Audioconference Overview

Cephalon recently agreed to pay $425 million to resolve claims that it marketed three drugs for a variety of off-label purposes. The investigation and settlement are likely to have broad ramifications on the industry for several reasons, including the novel fraud theory used to prosecute the case and the new requirements imposed by the HHS Office of Inspector General's (OIG) corporate integrity agreement.

On Tuesday, December 4, Marilyn May, the lead federal prosecutor, and South Carolina Assistant Deputy Attorney General William Gambrell, the lead state prosecutor, will examine the investigation and settlement in a timely audioconference. Defense counsel Mark Jensen of King & Spalding and Eric Sitarchuk of Morgan Lewis will be joined by qui tam attorney Peter Chatfield of Phillips & Cohen to round out an all-star line-up to examine this ground-breaking case from all perspectives.

What Is an Audioconference?

It is a live event that includes an interactive question and answer period, and access for an unlimited number of participants at each call-in site. However, only one site can be offered per registration. It is impermissible for an organization to purchase one registration and to operate multiple sites through an internal telephone system. During the live Audioconference participants will be able to ask questions and make comments. The Audioconference faculty has agreed to take follow-up questions via email.

Pharma Summit Audioconferences are simple, accessible, cost effective and reach a broad audience locally.
